More About Kurt

Kurt Werner

Born and raised in Winsted, I am a lifelong member of this community with deep appreciation for its schools and traditions.

I attended Saint Anthony School (K–8) and graduated from The Gilbert School in 1996. After spending several years living in California and Arizona, I returned home to Connecticut in 2004.

As a parent of two children currently enrolled in Winchester Public Schools, I am actively engaged in our community, serving as both a coach and board member for Winsted Youth Baseball.

More Information

I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut and went on to complete a Master’s in Secondary Education with a concentration in Social Studies from the University of Bridgeport. While pursuing a career in education, I was presented with the opportunity to enter the insurance field, where I have worked as a licensed producer since 2015.

During my time on the Board of Education, I have been proud to help strengthen collaboration and communication between Winchester Public Schools and The Gilbert School. I also serve on the Gilbert School Corporation Board, one of three WPS BOE members representing the district. Among my accomplishments, I am especially proud to have chaired the committee that secured the designation for The Gilbert School to continue as our community’s high school—a vital step in preserving educational continuity and local tradition.
